Plenty of photo opportunities ahead

Residents from East Northport can travel less than 30 minutes and discover techniques of photography composition at the New York Photo Workshop next week.

One of the techniques to be covered is the ‘rule of thirds’, which is a great technique to help photos to come alive.

Anyone who takes the class should have a basic understanding of the settings on their camera. It meets at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden located at 100 Eastern Parkway. Most of the time will be spent in the Steinhard Conservatory and the Japanese Garden. Admission is free and it begins at 3:00 pm next Tuesday, April 30.

Before that, camera-clickers can practice those photography skills at the Posey Dance Repertory Company’s performance tomorrow. It is suitable for all ages, from youngsters age four right up to adults.

The company consists of dancers aged 9 – 17 who also helped to create the choreography, along with Carissa Basedow, Elsa Posey, and Kimberly Wager. Dances include excerpts from the Sleeping Beauty Ballet, tap, contemporary, and modern styles.

The students all study at the Posey School of Dance, which places emphasis on imagination, creativity, explorative choreography, and innovation. The performance will be held at Northport Middle School, 11 Middleville Road, Northport.

Tickets are $15 - $20 and it takes place at 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 27. For more information, call (631) 757-2700. Poster printing and flyer printing are both excellent ways to promote photography classes and dance performance, making souvenirs to remember the event long after it is over.
