Great Cow Harbor Day returns

East Northport residents are invited to join in the fun during this year’s Great Cow Harbor Day weekend.

The event will mark the end of the summer season, and kicks off with the Great Cow Harbor 10 Kilometer Race. This has always proved to be very popular, with as many as 5,000 people coming out to run, and often double that to watch and cheer them on. The 2 kilometer fun run is also well attended.

The next day, the excitement keeps right on going with the Great Cow Harbor Festival. A parade winds its way through the town, with bands, floats, the Northport trolley and local dignitaries all taking part. After that, Main Street is closed off, and both it and Harbor Park fill with rides, vendors, live music, food, boating contests and more. There will also be a concert on Saturday night, and a lighted boat contest will be held on the Village Dock.

Those who are interested in either participating in the parade or want to find out more about setting up an artisan or not-for-profit vendor booth are asked to get in touch with the Northport Chamber of Commerce to find out further details. Brochures and other items can be printed for distribution by those who set up a display.

All of this is scheduled for September 17th and 18th. Anyone interested in finding out more information are invited to visit the Great Cow Harbor Day website.
