Fundraisers bring 2013 to a conclusion

East Northport residents can help those in need at two events this month, and then celebrate New Year’s Eve in style.

First up, they can enjoy an after-Christmas play on Saturday, December 28, at the Gospel of Peace International.

The stage play, ‘For Better or For Worse’, is also a fundraiser for WISE, a transitional housing facility for women and children. This is a thought-provoking comedy about what happens when temptations try to beat out wedding vows.

Tickets are $35, and the play begins at 5:00 pm at 3161 Royal Ave., Oceanside. For more information, call (516) 414-6810.

Another fundraiser on the same day at 7:00 pm is for Road Recovery, which benefits young men and women who are struggling with addiction and adversities.

Bands include Bayview Terrace from New York, Standby from Connecticut, and Pints of Applejuice from New York. Flyer printing can be useful for notifying residents of upcoming local events like fundraising music shows.

The benefit concert is located at the Saints Philip and James Church Auditorium, 359 Clinton Avenue, St. James. Dessert, finger snacks, coffee, and tea will be served during intermission.

After that, locals can take some time off and enjoy Gold Coast New Year’s Eve on the Beach at 8:00 pm. Tuesday, December 31, at the Crescent Beach Club, 333 Bayville Ave in Bayville.

The event will include a midnight champagne toast and a live telecast of the Times Square ball drop. On the beach will be fire pits, a dessert bar, and s’mores. For more information, call (516) 971-2041.
