Festival to make a stand against bullying

Residents and visitors to East Northport have the opportunity to enjoy a marina event at The Whale’s Tale, enjoying food and beverages while supporting the work of the Long Island Coalition Against Bullying (LICAB).

Guests at the Fiesta will enjoy an event on the marina front while sampling appetizers and helping themselves to unlimited tacos. Beverages will include everything from beer, wine, and soda to frozen margaritas, sangria and pina coladas, according to a news release.

Tickets for the event will cost $40 until July 13, and will go up to $45 on the day of the event. For those who will not be attending the event but would like to support it, sponsorships are available at the LICAB’s website.

The LICAB is a New York state nonprofit that, according to its website, emphasizes the importance of communities being free from bullying through awareness, education, and therapeutic outlets.

The organization works with those who have been bullied in a variety of ways, including sending Smile Packages that are tailored toward the person’s individual hobbies, interests, and personalities, and can be requested by anyone who knows the individual. It also helps to subsidize therapy for those who seek third party assistance outside of a school or work situation, and works with schools to create their own anti-bullying initiatives, which might include using printing services to create educational tools and Brochures.

The Fiesta At The Marina will take place on Sunday, July 20, at The Whale’s Tale in East Northport, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
