East Northport shelter holds fundraising event

The League for Animal Protection of Huntington recently hosted a fundraising event at their Grateful Paw Cat Shelter in East Northport.

The event collected donations of $10 for the group’s first annual “Giving Tree” campaign. For each contribution, the giver would receive an ornament that had been personalized with the name of their pet, the name of an animal lover, or a resident of the shelter that would be placed on the tree. There were light refreshment provided for those who were able to come out and take part, and all funds that were donated went to help rescue animals and rehabilitate them so that they can eventually be adopted into a loving family.

Even if someone was not able to attend in person, the organization was accepting Checks, for which they would create the ornament and hang it on the tree. It was lit on December 7, and will stay that way until January 7.

The League for Animal Protection provides a safe refuge for abandoned and unwanted pets until they can be adopted. They will be spayed or neutered, receive their shots, and be socialized so that they will be ready to integrate into their new family.
