East Northport running series to help local veterans

Area veterans are being given an opportunity to take part in a series of six runs that will wind through East Northport and Northport.

The goal of the 2015 Suffolk County Veterans' Running Series is to raise money for local service groups that help former military members, and the public is also invited to join in. According to County Executive Steve Bellone, the hope is that this will provide an opportunity for people to make an impact in the lives of those who have served their country.

Those who participate in all six events will receive a special commemorative coin, while those who take part in most of them will be given a medal to thank them for their participation. A Stationery printing firm will be able to Print certificates of appreciation for all those who take part in an activity such as this.

Anyone who would like to get more information is invited to visit the Suffolk Marathon or the Suffolk County’s websites, or Steve Bellone’s Facebook page.
The first in the group of races will take place on May 23 at Pulaski Elementary School in East Northport, the next will take place in June, then one in July, two in September, and one in November. They wind through some of the area’s most scenic spots, giving the runners a chance to enjoy the views while they race.
