East Northport museum to host a candle making workshop

In the days before electric lights, candles were used to light up the night, and an East Northport area venue will be wrapping up 2023 with an activity that will craft these luminaries by hand.

There are two sessions of the Holiday Lights Candle Making Workshop on offer at The Whaling Museum and Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor, and both will be held in late December.

The activity will see visitors to the museum offered the chance to craft their own hand dipped candle. As tinted waxes will be used, the finished projects will be bright and colorful, and each participant will be invited to make their own seashell candle holder too. Both projects can be taken home once complete.

As well as the hands-on candle making activity, the attendees will be able to learn about how materials such as whale oil and blubber were used for illumination in the past. A brochure printing company can prepare leaflets and other materials to distribute during a unique event like this, and may provide guests with more information.

The Whaling Museum and Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor will host its candle making afternoon on December 27 and December 29. Both scheduled events will be offered on a drop-in basis from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.

No advanced registration is needed.
