Defensive driving can save both money and lives, and the Northport-East Northport Public Library announced that there will soon be a workshop focused on this subject hosted in the local area.
The in-person class will be taught by a representative of Empire Safety Council, and it has a scheduled run time of six hours. Those who successfully complete the training may qualify for reduced insurance rates on their vehicle, but they will need to confirm this with their own individual carrier.
The workshop, which is only open to members of the Library, will have a tuition fee of $30, and only cash and Checks will be accepted. Each cardholder will be able to sign up one other person, and those who do will be taught driving skills that will help keep them safe in a vehicle accident and also prevent those types of occurrences from happening in the first place.
Libraries often also serve as community centers, hosting classes and other events. Learning materials for an organized activity will be available at a printing services company, which will also be able to prepare certificates to present to each attendee in a session.
This opportunity for East Northport vehicle owners to brush up on their defensive driving skills has been planned for January 13. It will be taking place in the Community Room at 151 Laurel Avenue.
