East Northport Library schedules mental health training

An event on offer at the East Northport Library will equip adults with the tools they need to support youth experiencing mental health issues.

The Library will be running a workshop series that will cover Youth Mental Health First Aid, and it is intended for parents, guardians, and anyone else who works with young people. There are two dates scheduled, and it will be facilitated by CN Guidance & Counselling Services.

The sessions will equip those who take part with the skills they need to recognize mental health disorders, and they will also learn what to do in a crisis. They will be taught what steps to take to connect someone in need with professional support.

Each registrant will need to participate in both scheduled classes. Anyone who has questions about the program has been asked to contact 631-261-6930.

A library often serves as a hub for its home community, offering learning opportunities and other programming. A poster printing service can be counted on to prepare an assortment of materials that effectively spread the word about an upcoming event.

The East Northport Public Library has scheduled the first session of Youth Mental Health First Aid for Monday, September 16, and the second will take place the following Monday, September 23. It will be held in the venue’s community room.
