Sourdough bread has been a staple food for centuries, and an East Northport activity will teach a new crop of bakers how to prepare it in their own home kitchen.
A hands-on baking class will be teaching the ins and outs of working with a sourdough starter, and tickets to attend the workshop start at $93. Nest on Main will be welcoming the registrants for what will be a hands-on activity.
The session will be held by Reanna from Re’ Bread, and each student will be preparing and creating their own sourdough starter. They will mix, knead, and stretch the dough, and it will then be time to get theirs ready to transport home to their own kitchen where they will be able to bake it the next day. A proofing basket will also be supplied, and a bread tasting is included in the activity.
To make it easy for the learners to keep on baking, they will all go home with a copy of a comprehensive sourdough guide. Stationery printers will be pleased to prepare handouts for a workshop, and they may include full color photos and other graphics.
This opportunity to gain in-person experience when it comes to artisan style bread will get started at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 24. Nest on Main can be found at 135 Main Street in Northport.
