An local business recently held a successful event to help veterans who have fallen on hard times.
Westy Self Storage hosted a collection drive for donations to the not-for-profit group General Needs Ltd., which helps former service members, as well as their families, who are now homeless or otherwise experiencing financial hardship. It provides them with a variety of basic articles such as toiletries, towels, clothing, bedding, and footwear. These are distributed through General Needs Distributions With Dignity program.
Westy’s acted as a drop off point seven days a week, beginning on February 3 and continuing until February 27. The District Director of the self storage location,Tim Mincin, remarked that he felt that it was very important to be there to help veterans in need, especially since they had been willing to give so much for their country. Banners can be hung during events to such as this to help attract the public’s attention and make it as successful as possible.
General Needs, which has its head office in East Northport, continues to accept financial donations online, and it will also accept material contributions as well. It is also seeking volunteers to help inventory, as well as the Packaging and distribution of the articles to those who need them.
