East Northport boaters are reminded that there may be one more step they have to take before they hit the water. A new law has come into effect in the state, and a class will help those who have a motorized personal watercraft to ensure that they are compliant.
Under the provisions of Brianna’s Law, all operators of motorboats are required to obtain a boating safety certificate if they were born later than 1993. An eight-hour course can come to the rescue, and the learning will be spaced out over a two days.
The course, which will be held on two Saturdays, will offer details about the most up-to-date boating laws and safety policies as well tips for registering and licensing their boat. Safety equipment and its use, handling emergencies, and the basics of navigation will all be covered, as will simple mechanical repairs. Trailers and transporting boats will be included, and the organizers explained that the classes can be helpful to anyone who spends time on the water.
The students in these types of classes often learn a lot of information in a relatively short period of time. Supplying them with bound manuals that includes even more details can be sourced from a printing services company, and since these can be referred to at any time, they can make it possible for the registrants to keep on learning after the course is complete.
