Among the teams recognized at the Big Apple Brownfield Awards Ceremony this year were H2M architects + engineers for the work done at 2329 Frederick Douglass Boulevard.
The ceremony was held in late April, and the award was presented to East Northport resident Paul Lageraan, Joseph Loesch of Sayville, and Dix Hills local Hardik Parekh, who represented H2M at the celebration. No doubt the team will be considering adding this honor to any future business card printing orders.
Each year, the New York City Brownfield Partnership recognizes individuals and project teams who have contributed to redevelopment of brownfield sites, or cutting-edge projects in brownfields.
A brownfield is a piece of property in an urban setting that has previously had industrial or commercial use, and the future use of which is complicated by environmental contamination, or the perception thereof. The land can be used once it is cleaned, which differentiates it from Superfund sites.
The Brownfield Award is given by the Economic Development Award. According to a press release, the award was given to this project for its “successful New York City brownfield cleanup and redevelopment” and for bringing such positive effects in the community.
H2M CEO and President Rich Humann described the job done by the team as “exceptional”, and expressed his delight at the work being recognized.
