Iconic musical goes on tour after 40 years

A show that has not traveled as an official Broadway production in four decades is stopping by Reno in late March for a few days of performances.

The Wiz is a musical which was written by William F. Brown, with the lyrics and songs written by Charlie Smalls. The story puts a spin on L. Along with some new pieces for this run adding in ballet, modern pop, and jazz elements to the energetic and colorful tale.

The new content comes from Amber Ruffin. The director will be Schele Williams, with the choreography being done by JaQuel Knight.

Some of the featured cast members include Alan Mingo Jr. as “The Wiz,” Dana Cimone as “Dorothy,” D. Jerome as “Tinman,” and Kyla Jade as “Aunt Em/Evillene.”

Tickets are available through the website for the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, which is also the venue for the shows. Prices range between $68 and $135 across all eight performances.

Most dates only have one showing, however, the last two also have a matinee. The times are 2:00pm and 7:30pm. Poster printing services are often hired for the promotion of musicals. The tour will visit Reno on March 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th.
