City to see new hydrogen production facility

Technology solutions company BayoTech has announced that as per an arrangement with New Mexico Gas Co., it will be setting up a new hydrogen generation station here in Albuquerque.

A hydrogen production and services enterprise, BayoTech will locate the hydrogen hub on New Mexico Gas Co. property. According to BayoTech the purpose of the facility is to contribute to the decarbonization efforts of the natural gas utility.

The hydrogen produced at the generating station will be used for blending into the natural gas system of New Mexico Gas. This will make it possible for regular natural gas users to use the same infrastructure while shifting to a hydrogen-gas blend. The blend is better for the environment because hydrogen creates water when burned rather than greenhouse gases.

Changes affecting the general public are commonly explained with pamphlets supplied by printing services.

According to BayoTech, in addition to its role in making burning natural gas a cleaner process, the hydrogen produced will also be available for use by refueling stations, fleet operators of fuel cell vehicles, and backup power systems.

The Albuquerque production station is BayoTech’s first but it will not be its last as the company plans to deploy more hydrogen production platforms throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. The Albuquerque station is slated to be in use in mid-2022.

It is estimated that the new hydrogen production station will create between 8 and 12 full-time jobs, in addition to 20 temporary jobs in construction and manufacturing.
