Today sees the start of the 32nd annual Festival Flamenco Albuquerque. Focused on celebrating culture, artistry, and preserving the flamenco, the festival continues to be an interactive event with workshops as well as performances.
Workshops will be available for the duration of the event. Topics will range from beginners’ to advanced dancing, and there will even be a lecture on Flamenco appreciation. Workshops can be signed up for individually or as a set of multiples.
There will be performances on three different stages. The stages are at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, Rodey Theatre at the University of New Mexico, and at Hotel Albuquerque. Each performance will have tickets available, and there will also be ticket packages.
Performers include nationally and internationally renowned artists such as Sergio de Lope, Lucia Alvarez, Belen Lopez, and Manuel Linan. These performers express Flamenco in different ways, either through movement or through music.
Although this a multiday event, attendees should be aware that certain events are limited. Certain tickets often sell out before the festival starts.
As an annual tradition, this festival uses a new Logo Design each year. This year’s logo was provided by artist Jodie Herrera, a New Mexico native. Herrera is currently a full-time artist and curator in Albuquerque.
Attendees should be aware of parking situations at the different venues, as there may be limited availability in certain areas. This event will end next Saturday, June 22.
