Somerville to hold Halloween-themed history presentation

Somerville locals can visit The Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage in October to attend a program about All Hallows’ Eve.

All Hallows’ Eve: Songs of Love, Death, and the Supernatural is an educational program where people can learn about the roots of Halloween through music. The show will feature songs that span multiple centuries and will discuss ancient superstitions and folklore. Anne Enslow and Ridley Enslow are the presenters of the program. The Enslows are known for their history-themed performances where they dress in period-appropriate attire and play live music.

The Enslows are the founders of Living History Through Music, which is a series comprising many historical shows. The performances include George Washington and his Spies and Victorian Parlour Songs. Ridley Enslow started playing colonial music when working at Morristown National Historical Park over 30 years ago, and Anne Enslow was a substitute orchestra member for The Secret Garden. Anne is also in charge of the duo’s research for its performances.

The show about All Hallows’ Eve will be held on Sunday, October 27 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There is no cost for the event, though people can show their interest in the performance on Facebook. All guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to the venue to enjoy the outdoor concert. Performances like this can be promoted to more consumers with poster printing services.
