The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey will be offering a class on cybersecurity in Somerville taught by an industry expert.
Cybersecurity Awareness - Avoiding Scams and Fraud is a program where people can learn about important tips for staying safe while on the internet, from an expert in the field. The seminar will define common hazards a person may come across and how to avoid them, while also discussing potential countermeasures people can use against scams and threats. The activity will be held in the meeting room at the Somerville library.
The instructor for the course is Bill Blum, who is the founder of Alpine Business Systems and has earned certificates from Microsoft and Dell. His company provides computer support programs, IT counseling, and network support services to small and medium-sized businesses throughout New York and New Jersey. The organization also supports several charitable groups, such as the United Way of Somerset County, Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County, and the Adult Day Center.
The cybersecurity program will take place on Monday, April 11 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The seminar is made for an adult audience, and there is no cost to attend Blum’s lesson. Seating will be limited for the class. Libraries that organize technology-related activities such as this may use flyer printing to promote the events to patrons.
