With most people in the area now looking forward to the start of the holiday season, the Downtown Somerville Alliance is looking to add a little magic to the air this year with its Holiday Jubilee. The event brings together shopping, activities, and a special visitor for one cheerful evening.
The event centers around the lighting of the Christmas tree in the heart of Downtown, and sources say that Santa Claus himself will make an appearance to light the tree personally. After that he will be available to listen to Christmas wishes. Families can also snag a photo with Santa for their Holiday Cards at the Zen Image Photobooth.
All the shops up and down Main Street will remain open for the jubilee, meaning that visitors can shop for presents or simply grab a bite to eat at the many different restaurants downtown. Additionally, gingerbread cookies and hot chocolate are available for everyone, adding a yummy and festive touch to the proceedings. Finally, carriage rides will be offered up and down Main Street, offering a tour of the heart of Somerville.
The Holiday Jubilee will be held on November 26, starting at 5:00 p.m. along Division St. and Main St. Admission is free to the public. Anyone looking for more info should visit the website or contact the Downtown Alliance directly.
