Residents in Somerville are opening up their attics and dusting off their old treasures in anticipation of the Gallery on Main’s first Antiques Appraisal Day. The all-day event will help visitors find the value of their most cherished possessions.
The antiques are being appraised by two experts: Ashley King and William D'Anjolell. King is the owner of The Clock Trader, a trader and seller of classic timepieces in Quakertown, PA. She will be on hand to assess clocks, watches, cuckoo clocks, and music Boxes. William D’Anjolell is the proprietor of Imagine Antiques and Appraisals in Newtown, PA. He is an expert in American and European ceramics, prints, glass, American metalware, and political and historical ephemera.
In an antique appraisal, visitors pay money per item to have one of the appraisers look at it. They will check out the item, look for distinctive features or logo designs, and review any extra bona fides that might be available, and discuss the history of the piece and what may or may not give it value. They will then assign a price point for the item that can either be used as a reference point when buying insurance for the item, or serve as a frame of reference when selling it.
The Gallery on Main’s Antiques Appraisal Day will be held on July 24 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at 30 West Main St. Cost for appraisal is $6 per item, with a max of four appraisals per person. Anyone interested in more information should visit the website.
