NJ children able to become one with nature

Kids in the Somerville area can soon take part in a program where they can learn more about the natural environment.

Duke Farms is hosting the Junior Naturalist program; a three-part mini-series designed for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. The initiatives take place indoors and outdoors.

The first topic is ‘Incredible Insects’, where participants can take part in identifying, collecting, and observing bugs.

The second topic is ‘Water Bugs’, where attendees will identify and collect these water creatures. Since this one involves walking in knee-high water, proper shoes or boots are necessary.

The final topic is 'Monarchs', where kids and their parents will learn about the butterfly’s life cycle, its migratory journey, and the importance of milkweed in a monarch’s life. Children will also get to examine live caterpillars.

Registration for the entire Junior Naturalist mini-series costs $15 and ends on July 19th. An adult needs to be present with the child enrolled in the program.

Brochure printers have likely created pamphlets to pass out to Duke Farms’ visitors. Informational Brochures could explain the Junior Naturalist program in depth, along with other programs and events that the farm has to offer.

Incredible Insects takes place on July 19th, while Water Bugs will be held on August 9th, and Monarchs will begin on September 20th. Rain or shine, all programs take place from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. Duke Farms is located on 1112 Dukes Parkway West.
