Newark tour draws interest in permanent residency

The Newark Downtown District, a non-profit organization, recently held a tour of the newly renovated district of the central business area. Approximately 700 people took part in the tour.

There was live music at cultural institutions that included the Newark Museum and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and visits to many galleries in the downtown area. However, the focus of the tour was on the many new apartments in renovated and new buildings that have become available in Newark, particularly over the last five years.

The Hahne & Co. Building apartments was one stop of particular note, as was the Richardson Lofts, which are diagonally across from the planned public park of Mulberry Commons, which has a ground-breaking event scheduled for this summer. The tour also included walking up a steel spiral staircase to the roof to view the Manhattan skyline before further examining the apartments.

Gayle Chaneyfield Jenkins, a Councilwoman from the Central Ward, commented that it is encouraging that so many people are interested in living and working in Newark. Jenkins considers the Central Ward to be the hub of the downtown area.

The Newark Downtown District might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to promote the many benefits of living in the downtown area by creating Brochures with more information about apartment costs and job opportunities.
