New finance degree to be offered in Jersey City area

A new Bachelor of Science degree in finance has been approved at Felician University in Rutherford at the School of Business and Information Sciences. Students living in nearby Jersey City may be interested in such a degree.

Full-time professors in the program will be Dr. Karen Beerbower, Dr. David Turi, and Dr. Philip Rothman, the latter of whom developed the foundation for the degree.

Dr. Rothman said that the curriculum for the program was developed by faculty from the School of Business and Information Sciences and is designed to prepare students with the diverse skillset and cutting-edge content knowledge they need to be successful in the field of finance. He added that students will begin with the core competencies of management and financial literacy and will learn about the importance of teamwork, ethical decision-making, and critical thinking and reasoning. Such programs often rely on local Print shops to help them create Flyers and other printed materials to disseminate information about curricula and requirements.

A new state-of-the-art finance lab is also being built along with the launch of the new program. The lab will have 16 Bloomberg terminals and will provide access to live market data, industry standard financial information systems, insight from leading experts in the field, and current news and events for use by both faculty and students.

This new program will begin in the Fall 2023.
