New aquarium to open near Jersey City

The New Jersey SEA LIFE Aquarium in the American Dream complex in East Rutherford will be opening next month. Residents of Jersey City will want to visit this special attraction.

The theme of the aquarium is based on the iconic monuments and landmarks around New York City. There will also be replicas of many iconic buildings including the “Whaledorf” Astoria, the Manhattan hotel, and a replica of the Empire “Skate” Building, 13 feet high.

The aquarium is 25,000 square feet in size and features water tanks with close to 250,000 gallons of water. Various species of sharks and other exciting creatures of the sea will live in the largest tanks. In total, there will over 3,000 fresh, salt, and warm water sea creatures, with 75 to 100 different species of invertebrates and fish from local and international waters.

Among the 12 interactive exhibits will be the jellyfish that are the “Disco DJs of the Deep,” piranhas known as the “Wall Street Wolves,” and the seahorses that are the “Ballet Dancers of the Ocean.” Feeding demonstrations, talks, and other events will also be offered. Poster printing can be used throughout such attractions to keep the public informed about upcoming events.

The opening date for the aquarium is set for April 23. Opening ceremonies will feature curator of the aquarium, Rich Weddle, and general manager, Camille DePascale, filling the water tanks.
