Mixed-use development to come to Jersey City

A project is being planned for a neighborhood in Jersey City along the Hackensack River that will redevelop a strip mall and parking area along Bennett Street and Route 440. The project will be on two adjacent lots that span a total of close to 30,000 square feet.

Myneni Properties has received approval to build residences, hotel rooms, and banquet space on Kennedy Boulevard next to the neighborhood of Journal Square. The project will rise 15 stories to a height of just over 170 feet. MVMK Architects of Hoboken are drawing the designs for the project.

There will be a two-story lobby on the ground floor with 2,025 square feet of retail space that will house two stores. One will be along Ege Avenue while the other face Virginia Avenue. There will also be floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a gym spanning 3,472 square feet, a day care facility, a communal outdoor terrace, and a lounge on the second floor. Such features and amenities are often described in more detail with brochure printing.

The project will have 218 residential units, consisting of 35 three bedroom, 66 two bedroom, and 177 one-bedroom units. None of the units will be designated as affordable housing. The roof will feature an outdoor terrace with swimming pool and seating area.

No start date for the project has been scheduled.
