Jersey City opens playground

A new playground is open between Emory and Brinkerhoff Streets off Monticello Avenue is Jersey City.

The Department of Parks and Recreation and Youth Development collaborated with the Department of Infrastructure to convert a lot that was not used and has been vacant for many years into a space that can be used by children and families in the community. The Monticello Avenue Playground, as it is known, features a new recreation area and playground.

Banner printing is often used at such sites to announce their opening to interested parties.

Barkha Patel, director of the Department of Infrastructure, noted that this playground and open space is a great accomplishment for the city. Patel said that the staff from the Jersey City Division of Architecture were able to design and manage all aspects of building the playground in-house. Patel added that the Department of Parks and Recreation and Youth Development has also been an ideal partner in the maintenance of the existing spaces in the city as well as the new spaces that are created.

Lucinda McLaughlin, director of the Department of Parks and Recreation and Youth Development, said that the playground will have additional flowers planted in the spring and the grass will be growing such that it will look even more pleasing than it does now so people should get out and enjoy the space.
