Akon and Pitbull have recently been announced by Steven Fulop, mayor of Jersey City, as the headliners for the Fourth of July Festival this year.
The festival is free and will begin at noon on the main stage with live entertainment. There will be areas for various activities, including a beer garden, a carnival, and food trucks with food and drink for purchase. Poster printing can be used to promote such activities and culinary offerings.
The festival culminates with Akon, from Jersey City, and Pitbull, a world-renowned rapper. The largest fireworks display in the state, presented by Grucci, will be the grand finale with barges along the Hudson River highlighting the Manhattan skyline.
Mayor Fulop said that last year Snoop Dogg was the main attraction of the entertainment and it is hoped that this year’s lineup will be equally impressive. Noting that there will be thousands of families that come from the tristate area for these festivities and Jersey City wants to show off all it has to offer on Independence Day, the mayor added that he hopes this will be one of best celebrations in the country.
Sponsors of the event include Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Suez, Budweiser, and the Public Service Enterprise Group.
The festival will take place at the Exchange Place Plaza from noon until 10:00 pm.
