Hohokus kids face building challenge
Children in the Hohokus area are sharpening their pencils and greasing their wheels to get ready for the Worth-Pinkham Library’s next challenge.
Makers Day - Marble Run and Build-It Challenge are two back-to-back events designed to encourage children to explore engineering and architectural fields. These are areas that are often short on qualified people, but are nonetheless important in many areas of American life.
The focus of the events is on kinetic learning, helping kids learn about the ideas behind structures by working with items to actually build things.
The first activity, Marble Run, is for children in grades three through six. Participants will build roller-coasters, chutes, tunnels, and slides for their marbles, aiming to build elaborate structures to get their marble from point A to point B.
The Build-It Challenge is meant for grades K through two, and has attendees make buildings, bridges, and other structures out of candy and other items. Younger participants can have a family member help them.
The Marble Run will be held on March 24 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, while the Build-It Challenge will be held on March 25 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library. Registration is required for both events. Anyone looking for more info should look out for brochures and posters or contact the library directly.
