Hohokus historic site hosts Civil War Encampment
This September, a Hohokus historic venue will be going back in time to the days of the American Civil War, and it will be an interactive experience for those who take part.
The Hermitage offers programming all year round that explores the area’s history, and it has set the date for its autumn Civil War Encampment. Tickets to enter will be available at the gate, and both children’s and adults’ will be available. Kids aged six and under may attend free of charge.
The activity will explore American history through a variety of demonstrations and hands-on fun. The kids in the crowd can try out a wooden musket, and there will be costumed interpreters on hand to offer information and explain how various artifacts were used. A variety of local artisans will be at work, and there will also be discussions of what it was like to live through the Civil War. Tickets for the day include admission to Hermitage House.
A historically themed event may call for the services available from professional print shops. They can create everything from period-style posters to banners, signs, and other materials.
The 6th Regiment New Hampshire Volunteers, Company C will be partnering with The Hermitage to bring history to life on Sunday, September 13. The fun will start at 10:00 am and will wrap up at 4:00 pm.
