Hohokus to tap for sap

An activity is about to be on offer at a Hohokus venue that will explore a sweet treat prepared from local trees.

While a variety of trees can be tapped for their sap, sugar maples are the most common, and the Hermitage will be running its Maple Sugaring program in late February. There are three start times available.

The participants in the walking workshops will learn how local indigenous people tapped maple trees to collect their sap in the late winter so that it could be boiled down into syrup, sugar, and other useful products. Everyone will find out about modern tapping techniques, and they will all head home with a tube and tap as well as instructions to try their hand at this ancient practice. Tickets are $35 each, and they all cover registration for up to four people.

Before the activity wraps up, everyone will be served cookies and hot chocolate, as well as samples of maple syrup. Print shops can prepare Promotional Products to hand out during an activity like this, and as there are many to choose from, organizers are sure to find a good fit for their needs.

This introduction to making maple syrup is set for Saturday, February 21, and the session start times are 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 3:00 pm. The venue can be found at 335 North Franklin Turnpike. A rain date of Sunday, February 22 has been set aside.
