What's Happening in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ…

Hohokus presentation to discuss native plants

Gardening in small spaces may present a challenge for even the most experienced of green thumbs, and a Hohokus activity will teach those who take apart how to make the most of the room they have available.

The Hohokus Garden Club will be offering a presentation that explores the options when it comes to using native plant species in small spaces. It will explain why using these plants may be really important, and its listing explained that the attendees may be surprised when they find out just how many options there are.

The presenter for the activity will be Elaine Silverstein, and she's certified in Sustainable Landscape Management. She will discuss how native species can be grown with success in a variety of locations, and many are well suited to small spaces. Silverstein will also explore how doing so can be environmentally friendly, and the knowledge she shares may be used for growing on a balcony, in a pot or a small garden plot.

Home horticulture is a hobby enjoyed by many, and choosing to incorporate native plants can make it welcoming to area wildlife. Plant lists that include hardiness zones, tips for successful planting and informational pamphlets can all be prepared for an event by a brochure printing company.

The Hohokus Garden Club will be exploring how native plants can make a big impact even in small gardens is scheduled for January 27th. It will be held at 400 Warren Avenue.
