Hohokus Inn recognized with special award
The Wine Spectator recently honored the Hohokus Inn and Tavern with its coveted Award of Excellence for 2014.
The designation is given to those restaurants that have wine lists with interesting selections that complement the type of cuisine they offer, and appeal to a wide range of wine aficionados. In addition, those awarded will have 100 top quality wines on their list that are suite to the price and ambience of the restaurant.
The overall quality and service of the wine service of the Inn was noted with one of its special strengths, which included an extensive selection of wines with moderate prices from France, Italy and California.
According to co-proprietor Laurie Hamm, underneath the Inn’s tavern room is a wine cellar of which many guests are most likely unaware. The Inn has a stone foundation that was laid by hand in the 1700s and provides a place for more than 300 labels of wine of all prices from across the world. The Crystal Room is a custom wine cabinet that is temperature-controlled and displays 1,100 bottles of wine. Hamm added that the Inn is “thrilled” about its latest recognition.
The Inn could now look to banner printing to make its customers and residents of the community aware that its wine list and selections have been given the thumbs-up by those in the know.
