A special lecture series will be hosted by the Glen Rock Public Library.
This is made possible by a grant from the Glen Rock Chamber of Commerce that funds events in the community in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States. Such lectures might be of interest to residents of nearby Fair Lawn and can be promoted throughout a town and neighboring communities with poster printing.
Later this month there will be a talk on how the kitchen gardens of colonial times clothed, fed, and healed Early American families, as well as one on the fine arts created during the Revolution, which included poems, painting, portraits, music, and sculptures.
There will be three talks next month. The first one is on the Marquis de La Fayette, covering such topics as what his background was, what motivated him to come to America, and what he really looked like. This will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 9.
The second one will be by Lou Del Bianco covering how the contributions of Luigi Del Bianco, his grandfather and chief carver of Mount Rushmore, made this memorial possible. This will be on Wednesday, July 15 at 6:30 pm.
The last talk will be on women during the Revolution, covering the expectations of women, how men viewed them, and the challenges they faced. This will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 23.
