Joseph J. Dawicki has been sworn as the new police chief of the Fair Lawn Police Department.
Such new appointments often call for business card printing services.
He is the ninth police chief since the department became independent in 1930. Prior to that Fair Lawn was part of the Saddle River Township and the constables, who were elected, policed the area.
Dawicki has lived in Fair Lawn his entire life. In 1996 he graduated from Fair Lawn High School and in 2000 from Ramapo College of New Jersey. He recently graduated from The University of Virginia with a master’s degree in public safety. Last year he attended the 289th Session of the FBI National Academy. This is an honor that is bestowed on the top one percent of police executives around the world.
Beginning in 1998, Dawicki served for three years with the Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police and has worked for the Fair Lawn Police Department on a full-time basis since 2001. He has served in all roles and ranks within the department, including community policing, the detective bureau, patrol, and training functions.
Dawicki said that his goal as police chief is to build the next generation of leaders in the department. He expressed his excitement about bringing police practice and management theory of the 21st century into the department.
