What was once a Shoprite across from River Road in Fair Lawn has been purchased by TFE Properties, a developer.
The building covers 54,800 square feet and is on a site of 6.3 acres. TFE Properties plans to update the façade of the building to create a more modern, clean, and fresh appearance. There are two additional buildings on the site. One is a Walgreens, which spans 18,825 square feet, and another is a multi-tenant property spanning just a little less at 18,000 square feet.
TFE Properties said that it plans to capitalize on the visibility of the location, its parking on site, and its proximity to the Garden State Parkway and Route 80. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform the community of any upcoming developments.
This announcement comes as daylong meetings were held this month by Main Street Inc, the national organization of Fair Lawn Main Street Inc, to discuss River Road’s future. A senior program officer and director of Illinois Main Street, Joi Cuartero Austin, and stakeholders from Fair Lawn discussed how River Road could become the downtown of the borough.
River Road has been a focus of Fair Lawn for revitalization efforts for more than 20 years. It has since undergone some beautification, including updated retail spaces, senior living, and apartments.
