Valley is the first healthcare system in New Jersey to install this new system. The organization has been at the forefront of Gamma Knife treatment since 2011, providing care for patients with both noncancerous and cancerous conditions affecting the head and neck, as well as neurological disorders such as trigeminal neuralgia.
Gamma Knife radiosurgery is an advanced radiation treatment developed for conditions affecting the brain. Rather than requiring surgical incisions, the system directs numerous highly targeted radiation beams at a specific area, such as a tumor or blood vessel abnormality, minimizing exposure to nearby tissue which may be healthy. The procedure offers a non-surgical approach to treating certain brain disorders.
Co-Medical Director of The Valley Gamma Knife Center and neurosurgeon, Chad DeYoung, MD, said with this new system:
“..we can treat complex brain conditions with sub-millimeter precision… For many patients, this means effective treatment with fewer risks, shorter recovery times, and the ability to return to daily life sooner than with traditional surgery or conventional radiotherapy.”
Brochure printing is often used to provide more details about such technologies and their availability in a community.
