Westfield woman elected to Freeholder Board

A resident has become the first woman from Westfield elected to the Union County Freeholder Board in 15 years.

Kim Palmieri-Mouded was sworn into office at the beginning of January, after being elected to the post in November.

Palmieri-Mouded hails from Elizabeth, but moved to Westfield five years ago. She joins a Freeholder Board that is now mostly made up of women. Not only is she the first woman from Westfield to serve on the board in more than a decade, but her presence has made the board woman-majority for the first time as well.

Newly elected members of government can create Business Cards to advertise their new positions and to help them connect with their constituents.

Palmieri-Mouded has stated that she will keep the needs of all of Union County in mind during her tenure on the board, but she will also keep the specific requirements of residents from Westfield in consideration.

Speaking to Tap Into Westfield, Palmieri-Mouded said that she looks forward to paying attention to the issues that affect those who live in her hometown while developing a strong relationship with other government officials.

A total of nine people serve on the freeholder board. Five of them are women, including the chair of the board, Better Jane Kowalski. Kowalski, Rebecca Williams, and Andrea Staten were among the women sworn in at the beginning of the month.
