Westfield luncheon to explore areas horticultural past
The Westfield Historical Society celebrates the area's past in a variety of ways, and one of them has been added to the community’s agenda for this January.
The organization has scheduled its First Wednesday Luncheon for the new year, and it will be held at Echo Lake Country Club. It will feature a guest speaker, and will explore the past 100 years of the state's horticultural history and how it once led the way when it came to cultivated plant and flower production.
The presenter for the luncheon will be local garden historian Lesley Parness, and she will explore how the area was once a center for growing everything from peaches to turf grass and even exotic orchids. It was also home to an extensive network of greenhouses and nurseries. These will be discussed during the lecture, and tickets start at $35. There will be three courses served to the attendees, along with tea and coffee.
A not-for-profit luncheon or other gathering may benefit from the services of local print shops. They can prepare programs to hand out as well as table cards, printed menus, and even personalized VIP invitations.
This kick-off to the Westfield Historical Society’s First Wednesday Luncheon schedule for 2023 will be on offer on January 24. The final date to register for a seat is December 29.
