Westfield high school students participate in fashion show for a cause
Last week, a group of football players and cheerleaders from Westfield High School had the chance to show off a different side of themselves. They acted as models during the third annual ‘Small Plates for a Great Cause’ event.
The students strutted their stuff on the catwalk during the event, showing off new fashions and styles from the area Lord & Taylor department store.
Organizers of the fundraising event estimated that this year's turnout was higher than in years past. Nearly 300 people showed up for the fashion show and food-focused event.
People who organize fundraisers like this can use printing services to spread the word and encourage people to attend.
Along with the chance to see new styles modeled by local teenagers, the event featured dishes from 25 area restaurants. The proceeds from the annual event go to the scholarship fund for the Rotary Club, and to the Westfield Foundation.
Deirdre Gelinne, a member of the Rotary Club and the executive director for the Westfield United Fund, was please with how the day went and stressed that all the funds raised during it go back into the local community.
Dr. Philip Salerno, who chaired the event, was similarly happy at the work the student models did, stating that "they looked terrific" and did a great job.
