Westfield area workshop to introduce benefits of rain gardening
Rain gardens are a landscape feature that combine form and function, and a Westfield area workshop will introduce them to area homeowners.
The Rutgers Cooperative Extension office has scheduled a class that will investigate the benefits of rain gardens, and it will be an in-person event. It will supply the basic information needed to get started, with the Livingston Public Library in Livingston providing space for the activity.
The presentation will explain how these landscape features protect the environment by preventing storm water runoff, which helps to keep pollutants out of area waterways and groundwater supplies. The learners will discover how they can choose plants that will attract wildlife by providing them with food and shelter, and choosing the right location for them will be included in the discussion as well.
Anyone who is interested is encouraged to attend this free activity, and no advance registration is needed.
A workshop can provide an introduction to a topic, but the attendees may walk away eager to learn even more. A brochure printing company can provide additional learning materials so that it will be easier for them to do so.
This introduction to the benefits of installing rain gardens will be welcoming the public on April 21 at 11:00 am. Additional details have been included in its Patch listing, and the venue can be found at 10 Robert H Harp Drive in Livingston.
