Award-winning comedian headlines Lincoln venue

Lincoln’s Pinewood Bowl Theater is hosting comedian John Mulaney this August.

A winner of multiple show business awards, including four Emmy Awards, a WGA Award and a Critics' Choice Award, Mulaney is a Saturday Night Live alumnus who has carved a name for himself on stage and in movies and TV.

With multiple stand-up comedy specials to his name, Mulaney has a distinctive voice reminiscent of mid-20th-century Hollywood stars, lending an old-timey feeling to characters like Spider-Ham in the animated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, among other voice work.

Mulaney is also known for creating unique performance art pieces, such as his collaboration with fellow comedian Nick Kroll, The Oh, Hello Show, in which both performers stay in character for the entire act.

For his upcoming performance in Lincoln, Mulaney is bringing with him a special guest star, comedian Mike Birbiglia. Birbiglia similarly toes the line between straight-up stand-up and more conceptual performance art. For instance, his one-man show Sleepwalk With Me combines traditional jokes with a loose narrative, serving as a memoir for his history with sleepwalking, which was later turned into a movie.

Stand-up comedy shows like this may choose to use brochure printing to create audience programs or season schedules.

John Mulaney, with special guest Mike Birbiglia, is performing on August 21 at 8 pm at the Pinewood Bowl Theater at 3201 S Coddington Ave in Lincoln.
