A native of Youngsville, Katie Haynes, will be competing for the title of Miss United State Agriculture for 2022 in Orlando, Florida this summer.
In October, Haynes won the crown for the North Carolina People’s Choice Miss United States Agriculture, and as the North Carolina Miss Agriculture Advocacy Ambassador for 2022. Haynes said that she has not been in a pageant before but that she enjoys community service and agriculture, and this competition is about both areas as opposed to beauty. She added that entering this pageant was to show people that disability does not need to be a barrier to enjoying life and giving back to the community.
Haynes attended Southern New Hampshire University from which she earned an associate’s degree in photography. Her interest in agriculture began at an early age and she joined 4-H during her youth. She has her own photography business and enjoys photographing national parks, people, and animals.
She also started a non-profit organization in 2015 called Smiling While Sending Hope, which sends smile packages to children undergoing transplant surgery and chemotherapy treatments or have other health issues, and who are at local hospitals in North Carolina. More information about such organizations and their outreach efforts in the community is often provided with flyer printing.
Haynes will be competing in the national competition in June of this year.
