Youngsville to celebrate sesquicentennial

Youngsville is hosting several events to celebrate its 150th anniversary.

The first is an evening of card games at The Victorian on SE Railroad Street. The evening starts at 6:00 pm with cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres, before the games begin at 7:00 pm. The dress code is semi-formal with the goal to impress others. There will be prizes after the games end at 10:00 pm. This event will be tomorrow, March 1.

There will also be a St. Patrick’s Day 5K race. Check-in will be behind the Yacht Club where the race will begin at its Beverage House. Attendees will get a bib and race T-shirt. Check-in is at 9:00 am with the race beginning at 10:30 am. There will be an awards ceremony at 11:30 am and attendees need to be present to win. Live music will also follow the race along with the food truck Jammin’ All Day Long. Those who turn in their bibs at the end of the race will receive a free beverage at the Yacht Club. The 5K will be on Saturday, March 15.

The culminating celebration will be on May 15, which will include many festivals, a parade, live music, a history scavenger hunt, and a finale of fireworks. Such special events are often promoted throughout a town with poster printing and other printing services.
