The commencement speaker for Wake Forest University will be Dream Corps founder and CNN host, Van Jones. Residents of Youngsville who have students attending the university will not want to miss this address.
Jones has written three Books that have been on the list of New York Times best-sellers and is an Emmy award-winning producer. He has successfully led bipartisan advocacy and legislative efforts during the last four presidential administrations, being the main advocate for the Green Jobs Act, introduced by George W. Bush in 2007. He is also a social entrepreneur and has founded and led the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, Color of Change, and the REFORM Alliance.
Commencement will take place on Monday, May 16 at 9:00 am on Hearn Plaza.
Chair of the Department of African American Studies and the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor, Eddie S. Glaude Jr., will be the baccalaureate speaker for commencement weekend. Glaude is a political commentator, author, public intellectual, and educator who examines the dynamics of the American experience. Glaude is also a columnist for TIME Magazine and regularly appears on Meet the Press on Sundays.
Both such events can be promoted throughout a campus community with poster printing.
Baccalaureate will take place at 9:00 am in Wait Chapel on Sunday, May 15. Both ceremonies are ticketed events that graduates, their families, and guests can attend.
