Ripe for Revival is partnering with the Northern Community Food Security Team (NCFST) to offer a mobile grocery store in Wake Forest. Residents of nearby Youngsville may be interested in this new offering.
The mobile grocery store is on East Holding Avenue across from the Northern Regional Center. City or school buses that are no longer used are renovated and equipped with freezers and refrigerators to become markets that can be driven into communities.
Meat and dairy products, as well as fruits and vegetables from local and regional farmers, are available at the store on a pay-as-you-can basis. There will be a suggested total for the items selected at checkout and shoppers can then pay the full amount, part of that total, or make no payment at all depending on their ability to pay.
There may be some limits at the market on the amount of dairy, eggs, and protein items that can be purchased, but there will be no limits on produce. Flyer printing can be used so that customers know what food items will be available at such markets on any given day.
This mobile market will be on the second and fourth Thursday of every month from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, starting on March 14. As Good Friday is the last Friday in March, the second appearance of the market next month will be on Monday, March 25.
