Free prom dresses to be offered in Youngsville

The Hope Chest, a non-profit organization in Franklin County, is hosting a prom dress giveaway this weekend to help students in need of a dress.

Students from Franklin County, Wake County, and other local areas are welcome to attend this giveaway. Such unique and annual events are often promoted throughout a town and surrounding areas with poster printing.

Jordan, the daughter of Jennifer Enevoldsen, started this as a senior project in 2015. She was adopted from the foster care system and remembers how little she had as a child. Jennifer said that Jordan loved dresses as a child, and she decided to give back to the community with this project.

There were 100 dresses collected in the first year, which were given to 36 students in two schools. Due to its success, in 2020, it became a non-profit organization known as The Hope Chest. It started its fundraising efforts at the same time and now has over 1,000 dresses.

The Hope Chest partners with Wake Forest Coffee Company. In 2023, the non-profit teamed up with Pine Hill Pavilion, with use of the venue for the event being part of the agreement.

This Sunday, March 24, the prom dress giveaway will be held from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Pine Hill Pavilion on Moores Pond Road in Youngsville.
