Trolls to visit Asheville arboretum

Thomas Dambo will hold a troll-themed multi-month art exhibition at The North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville.

Trolls: A Field Study is an art project where guests of The North Carolina Arboretum can see multiple interactive troll sculptures exploring the attraction. There will be 12 different trolls in the series that can be found along the garden’s trails from November to February. The friendly art pieces are depicted observing humanity’s inventive ways of life in North Carolina. Guests of the arboretum will receive a treasure map to help them locate the trolls in the attraction.

Thomas Dambo is a Danish artist from Odense who has been creating large wood sculptures of trolls since 2014. He has worked on several major projects, including The Six Forgotten Giants, The 7 Trolls and the Magical Tower, and Future Forest. Dambo’s work has also been featured at the Den Kæmpestore Troldefolkefest. People can find Dambo’s installations around the world in continents like Europe, Asia, and South America. Dambo was also part of the music group Fler Farver.

The troll-themed exhibit will be set up from November 15th until February 17th. There is no admission cost to see the trolls, though all guests will have to pay the venue’s parking fee of $20 per standard vehicle. Members of the arboretum can park for free. Local attractions that hold special art exhibits like this may use flyer printing to promote their new additions to the community.
