An outdoor film event focused on paddling culture and river conservation will arrive in Asheville this spring as part of the international Paddling Film Festival World Tour.
The event is being presented by MountainTrue in partnership with The Grey Eagle Music Hall, with proceeds supporting regional environmental initiatives.
The festival program features a collection of short films centered on kayaking, canoeing, and other paddle sports. Organizers say the screenings highlight exploration, outdoor adventure, and the importance of protecting waterways. The tour regularly travels to cities across North America and beyond.
The short films will be followed by an intermission presentation outlining the work of MountainTrue’s French Broad Riverkeeper Program. A raffle will also be held during the evening, with prizes including outdoor gear and a kayak donated by Feelfree Kayaks. Sponsors supporting the program include Mosaic Realty, Nantahala Outdoor Center and Second Gear.
The venue will offer general admission seating on a first come, first served basis, with additional standing room available once seats are filled. Advance tickets are listed at $19.45, which includes fees under the venue’s all-in pricing structure. Children under the age of 12 can attend for $5.65 but must be escorted by a paying adult.
Creators often rely on both online advertising and common, tried and trusted methods, such as poster printing, to inform locals about community events like this one.
The screening will take place on Thursday, April 23 at 7:00 pm. Doors will open at 6:00 pm at The Grey Eagle Music Hall, 185 Clingman Ave, Asheville.
