Asheville adults interested in hand embroidery will have an opportunity to build skills during the Blooms in a Hoop: Beginner Embroidery Workshop.
The class will be Led by award-winning embroidery artist JeanAnne Taylor. It is designed for beginners seeking practical instruction in traditional stitching methods while creating a floral-themed project to bring home. The workshop is open to participants ages 18 and older and includes all required materials.
Throughout the session, Taylor will introduce students to essential embroidery techniques, covering topics such as selecting needle sizes, choosing embroidery floss, and identifying suitable fabrics for different projects. Demonstrations will be followed by individualized guidance to help participants master each stitch before completing their own design. In addition to embroidery, Taylor draws inspiration from nature through watercolor, gardening, and textile arts.
Advance registration is required, and participants are checked in by name without the need to present printed or digital tickets. An early bird ticket is priced at $125.47, while general admission costs $130.62. Arboretum members may qualify for a 10% discount by entering a valid promotional code during registration. Refunds are available up to one week before the workshop.
