A creative workshop that celebrates the arrival of the winter solstice is being organized in Asheville, and local creatives are invited to sign up.
The Hand-Dipped Beeswax Candle-Making Workshop, which is being led by Jess Kaufman, has an official date, and interested individuals in Asheville can reserve their spots by signing up online. Kaufman will lead participants through a workshop that is rooted in tradition and is held on the longest evening of the year. Guests can look forward to a warm and welcoming environment for making beeswax candles under Kaufman’s tutelage.
It will be the fifth annual gathering of the workshop, and participants will use cauldrons filled with heated wax, and participants will get in the centuries-old rhythm of dipping the candles until they take shape. Organizers can use Print shops to create quality printed instructions that participants can take home to continue making handmade candles at home.
Kaufman will use the event to provide more of the story behind beeswax while sharing ways that participants can honor pollinators and embrace stewardship. Participants will leave the workshop with the fundamental candle-making skills and two pairs of hand-dipped candles for use at home.
Registered guests will be sent the address for the Asheville host venue as the event draws closer. It is scheduled for Saturday, December 19th, at noon. Registration is open online, and standard pricing is $57 per person.
